#BlogBattle Loss of Marbles

My cat has lost her marbles
It’s pretty clear to see
she’s as nutty as a fruitcake,
as moronic as can be.

She doesn’t climb like other cats,
hugs tree trunks like a bear
to hide from birds and squirrels
and pretend she isn’t there.

My cat has lost her marbles,
she’s just stark raving mad,
using my poor stomach
as her personal launch-pad.

Don’t move your head too close to her
and mind those tufty paws,
for when she gives a head massage
she uses teeth and claws!

My cat has lost her marbles,
she’s a little bit ‘cuckoo’.
She cavorts around the bathtub
and then tries to lick the loo.

She doesn’t drink like normal cats,
but uses both her paws
to throw the water everywhere
then lap it off the floor.

My cat has lost her marbles,
it’s fairly safe to say
She’s demented, daft and dizzy
in a bonkers sort of way.

She’s checked under the sofa,
with a wiggle and a bound,
to alleviate her loss although
no marbles can be found!

But I love my potty pussy cat,
my fruit-loopy feline.
She might be cracked and crazy
but she’s special and she’s mine!

I wrote this post as an entry for the February #BlogBattle as seen on Blog Battlers and reblogged on the excellent Anita Dawes and Jaye Marie, where I found it.  The word prompt is ‘loss’… but Gloria twisted my arm with her fluffy attitude and rather than writing about something entirely different and rather sombre, the post naturally became all about her … as always!

Just a thought but after being Gloria’s Chief Human Staff Member for 4 years, maybe I’m the one who has lost my marbles…

What a great poem! She sounds a little bit like my cats, haha. Maybe they’ve lost their kitty marbles too. Nice to see you over at BlogBattle! I look forward to reading more of your work πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! Ha ha maybe they have. I think most cats have a certain craziness in their character, some more than others… I’m new to BlogBattle – it looks like a great community. I’ve had a bit of a break recently but am now planning on lots more writing! Thanks for your support πŸ˜€

We have never had cats before, but we rescued four of them in December and they have completely taken over our house. It’s been a vicious winter here, so I’m glad we did; I’m sure they wouldn’t have survived. But chaos doesn’t begin to describe it (we also have three little kids and a German shepherd πŸ˜‚). I’m learning to appreciate people’s personal anecdotes about cats, these days. I never really β€œgot it” before now!

      • Oh wow, you certainly have a house full! Chaotic but lots of fun, no doubt. Wonderful that you managed to save 4 little lives this winter, that’s good to hear. Yes, cats are a source of much merriment, as you are discovering πŸ˜€ So are chickens – we have 4 of the daft little birds. Animals and kids are great blog fodder!

  2. Very quirky and like some of the others said…made me smile. I also popped over from the BlogBattle entry list too. Thing I like about it is the multi genre approach. Almost like a short story anthology index. Great to see you over there and hope you can join in this month too!

    • Thank you! The main aim on my blog is to raise a little chuckle, so I’m really pleased that you liked it. There are some great entries on the BlogBattle – I must go and have a look for yours now! I’m definitely planning to enter again this month… will hopefully get some writing time this weekend πŸ™‚

      • These days raising a chuckle is really important. News Media here seems to be so negative! BlogBattle continues to let me see new writers and bloggers too. One reason I cajoled Rachael to start it up again. Looking forward to reading more of your entries now too 😊
